Following the ravaging effect of a gully erosion threatening to cut off the community, the traditional Ruler of Emede Autonomous Community, Umuahia North LGA of Abia State, Eze Allan Okpokiri has appealed to the state government to come to their aid.
The traditional ruler who made the appeal at the gully site, said the community is about to be cut off if something is not urgently done to salvage the situation.
Eze Okpokiri noted that the control of the gully is beyond the financial strength of the community and expressed optimism that the State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti will assist the community and residents whose lives and property are under serious threat.
The Royal father explained that there are no other alternative routes to the area, stating that the road which starts from Umuagu Ata junction leads to villages such as Umuakanu, umueze, Udide, ubani Ibeku among others.
Eze Okpokiri, while saluting the governor for his infrastructural development across the state, also urged him to pay attention to the gully erosion and their road, which is in bad condition.
Also speaking, some of the community leaders, including: Chief Innocent Iheukwumere and Chief Lawrence Nwaobiara, said the government’s urgent intervention will save the community from being cut off by the gully even as they applauded the giant strides of the present administration in the state.
