Abia Police Arraign Child Abuse Suspect, Hand Over Victim To Ministry of Women Affairs

‎The Abia State Police Command has arraigned Mr. Uzoma Uwaeme over the gruesome abuse of his 13-year-old son.

‎The Command disclosed this in a statement issued on Tuesday, 16th September, 2026, by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Maureen Chioma Chinaka.
‎
‎According to the statement, upon conclusion of investigations at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), the suspect was charged before a court of competent jurisdiction and remanded in correctional custody.
‎
‎The victim, the statement added, has been handed over to the Ministry of Women Affairs for proper care, rehabilitation and continued protection.
‎
‎The Commissioner of Police, Abia State Command, CP Wilfred Olutokunbo Afolabi, reiterated the Command’s unwavering commitment to ensuring justice for victims of abuse and holding perpetrators accountable under the law.
‎
‎He said the Command will continue to work in synergy with relevant government agencies and stakeholders to safeguard the rights and welfare of children across the state.
‎
‎The Command urged members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report cases of child abuse, domestic violence and other criminal activities to the nearest police station.
