The Abia State Police Command has arraigned Mr. Uzoma Uwaeme over the gruesome abuse of his 13-year-old son.
The Command disclosed this in a statement issued on Tuesday, 16th September, 2026, by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Maureen Chioma Chinaka.
According to the statement, upon conclusion of investigations at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), the suspect was charged before a court of competent jurisdiction and remanded in correctional custody.
The victim, the statement added, has been handed over to the Ministry of Women Affairs for proper care, rehabilitation and continued protection.
The Commissioner of Police, Abia State Command, CP Wilfred Olutokunbo Afolabi, reiterated the Command’s unwavering commitment to ensuring justice for victims of abuse and holding perpetrators accountable under the law.
He said the Command will continue to work in synergy with relevant government agencies and stakeholders to safeguard the rights and welfare of children across the state.
The Command urged members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report cases of child abuse, domestic violence and other criminal activities to the nearest police station.
