First Lady Tinubu Flags Off National Food Bank Program in Anambra

The First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, CON, on Thursday, flagged off the National Community Food Bank Program in Anambra State for the South East Zone, marking the completion of the national rollout across all six geopolitical zones.

‎Speaking at the Alex Ekwueme Square, Awka, during her one-day official visit to the state, the First Lady said the initiative is aimed at tackling child malnutrition in the South East and across Nigeria. She noted that political differences must be set aside to address the needs of Nigerians.
‎
‎Describing the zonal rollout as “mission accomplished,” Senator Tinubu expressed optimism for the future of Nigerian children. She called for renewed multi-level interest in child nutrition following the South East launch.

‎The First Lady commended the Anambra State Governor, Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, and his wife for their policies and programs, which she described as evidence of the state’s progressive outlook.
‎
‎As part of the visit, Senator Tinubu also inaugurated a new Renewed Hope Initiative / TETFUND ICT Experience Centre at the Federal Polytechnic, Oko. Interacting with students in one of the lecture theatres, she urged them to leverage technology, particularly Artificial Intelligence, for problem-solving. She encouraged them to join the Environmental Society to proffer workable solutions to sectoral challenges.

‎She reaffirmed that expanding digital learning remains a key priority of the Renewed Hope Initiative.

‎In another highlight of the visit, the First Lady flagged off the distribution of empowerment items provided by the Anambra State Government to 5,000 beneficiaries. She announced a financial grant of ₦100,000 to each beneficiary to support the intervention.

‎Governor Soludo, in his remarks, described the partnership between the Federal and Anambra State Governments as progressive and critical to building a framework that “leaves no one behind.”
‎
‎In appreciation of her contributions to national development and support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, the First Lady was conferred with the traditional title of “Ugoeze of Anambra” by the Chairman of the Anambra State Council of Traditional Rulers, HRM Igwe Chidubem Iweka.
