Governor Alex Otti, has described the 35th anniversary of the creation of Abia State as a testament to the resilience and collective spirit of the people.
In a statewide broadcast on Thursday, the Governor said the milestone reflects a heritage defined by hard work, resilience and hope for a better tomorrow.
Otti expressed gratitude to God for His blessings on the State in the last 35 years and congratulated Abians for their contributions to building what he called “a community of endless possibilities.”
He said the joy of the anniversary was rooted in the conviction that a new epoch has dawned on the State, adding that his administration was determined to seize the opportunities of the moment to create a better future for generations to come.
The Governor paid tribute to the founding father of the State, Dr Ogbonnaya Onu, CON, as well as former Governors Dr Orji Uzor Kalu, MON, Chief Theodore Orji, CON, and Dr Okezie Ikpeazu for their contributions to the socio-economic and political evolution of Abia.
He also acknowledged the roles of the pioneer military administrators including Air Vice Marshal Frank Ajobena, CON, Brigadier General Chinyere Ike Nwosu, Commander Temi Ejoor, Colonel Moses Fasanya and Lieutenant Colonel Anthony Obi, noting that their investments in infrastructure and commitment to public order laid the foundation for the State.
Governor Otti said while past leaders may not have been perfect, their efforts at building a political entity that answers to the aspirations of the people must not be forgotten.
He concluded the broadcast with prayers for peace and prosperity for Abia State and Nigeria.
