ADC Suffers Setback in Abia as Chieftain Apugo Resigns

‎The African Democratic Congress, ADC, has lost one of its chieftains in Abia State as Hon. Martins Ikechukwu Apugo announced his resignation from the party with immediate effect.

‎Apugo, in a resignation letter dated May 3, 2026, said he arrived at the decision after “wide consultations with my family, friends, and supporters.”
‎
‎The letter was directed to the ADC Chairman of Ibeku East Ward 1, Umuahia North LGA, and was released to the media on Wednesday.
‎
‎While thanking the party for the opportunity to serve, Apugo wished the ADC leadership well in its future plans.
‎
‎The development comes as political realignments continue across Abia ahead of the 2027 election cycle.
