Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State has carried out an on-the-spot inspection of the ongoing construction work at the 211 Quick Response Group (QRG) Base of the Nigerian Air Force, located in Owerri, Imo State.
During the inspection, the Governor charged the contractor handling the project to hasten work so as to deliver it within the stipulated time.
Uzodimma while posting on his verified X handle on Monday, added that the on-the-spot inspection was carried out on the administrative blocks and associated facilities.
According to the Governor, during the inspection, “I observed the level of progress achieved and assessed the quality and pace of work in relation to the approved project schedule.
Continuing, “The structural framework and finishing elements currently underway indicate steady advancement in line with projected milestones.
Uzodimma also said, “In the course of my interaction with the contractor, I emphasised the importance of sustaining and, where possible, accelerating the current momentum to ensure strict adherence to the agreed delivery timeline as stipulated in the contractual agreement.”
Southeastposts reports that the base is part of the Special Operations Command (SOC) and was established in 2016 to address security challenges in the South East, North West, and South West zones of Nigeria
Also, the base has been involved in various security operations, including: countering militancy, bunkering, kidnapping, and other forms of criminality in Imo State and surrounding areas.
