UMUAHIA – Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, has officially commissioned and handed over the first-ever Nigerian Air Force Administrative Complex in Umuahia to the Federal Government.
Otti announced this on his X handle on Saturday, stating that the event took place on Friday, July 31, 2025.
The Governor described the project as a landmark commitment to strengthening security and protecting the lives and property of residents in Abia.
”Security is a fundamental right, and for us, it is non-negotiable,” Otti said. “The presence of the Nigerian Air Force in our State completes the circle of the nation’s armed forces already here, alongside the Army in Ohafia and the Navy in Owerinta. Together, they form a stronger shield for our people.”
He expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, the Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa, Rtd., and the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Kelvin Aneke, for their support.
According to him, the collaboration between the Federal Government and Abia State is proof that “when we work together, we can achieve lasting peace and progress.”
Otti added that beyond security, the facility will stimulate socio-economic growth, create opportunities for youth, and reinforce the foundation for sustainable development.
He further disclosed that the state has allocated land at the ongoing Abia Airport project in Nsulu for a permanent Nigerian Air Force Base, to ensure the presence is enduring.
”To the officers and personnel of the Nigerian Air Force, welcome to Abia. Be assured of our full support as you carry out your constitutional duties to safeguard our dear State,” he said.
