A young man in his 20s, died in a fatal road accident in Ndiolumbe Autonomous Community near Church of Christ on Sunday morning.
The accident which occured at the busy Ururuka road around 8am, involved a brown coloured Camry car and a motorcycle.
An eyewitness linked the accident to over speeding, emphasising that the Camry driver was on top speed before hitting the young man on his bike and destroying a shop at the scene.
The eyewitness who gave the name of the Camry driver as “Star Boy”, alleged that he had been involved severally in road accidents in the past and only bought the Camry car on Saturday.
He lamented that the young man, whom he identified as a palm cutter hails from a community in Omoba, Isiala Ngwa South Local Government Area but resides in Umuokoro in same LGA.
The eyewitness added that the palm cutter, the only son of his parents, had been the bread winner of the family and came to Ndiolumbe to claim the balance of palm fronds he was to cut for a client before the unfortunate incident. He also revealed that the sister of the palm cutter is due for burial in the next few days.
The eyewitness told Newsbuka that all efforts to rush him to a hospital proved unsuccessful as he died on the spot, adding that it was a fatal incident.
Meanwhile, as at the time of filing this report, it was gathered that “Star Boy”, was being detained at Omoba Divisional Police Station having allegedly been taken to the police station to avoid being lynched by villagers.
It would be recalled that few weeks ago, a young girl of about 15 years, Amarachi Chidiebere was almost crushed by a tipper driver in Ndiolumbe Autonomous Community, Isiala Ngwa South LGA of Abia State.
The incident which occured at the popular Ahia Orie Market, drew the attention of traders, indigenes of the community as well as passers-by.
She had successfully undergone abdominal surgery, but is still recuperating at the Abia State Teaching Hospital Aba.
