Abia Teacher’s Recruitment: Am Pleased with Hitch-free CBT Exercise ~ Elder Ubochi

The Commissioner, Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, Elder Goodluck Ubochi, has expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the CBT exam which is part of requirements for Abia State Teacher’s Recruitment, pledging that the remaining process will continue to be transparent.

Elder Ubochi who made the pledge on Tuesday while addressing newsmen, said he visited four out of the five centres for the CBT exam including Isiala Ngwa North, XYZ Computers, Umudike, Ogbonnaya Onu Polytechnic, Aba, revealing that the centres were peaceful while Candidates comported themselves.

He noted that the whole idea behind the recruitment is to bridge the deficit in number of Teachers in Primary and Secondary Schools in the State, stressing that out of the 10, 000 that entered for the CBT test, the number will be further trimmed down to about 5,000.

Elder Ubochi who stated that the CBT exam is not the final lap of the exercise, hinted that the final lap will involve looking at the claims put up by the Candidates, vis-à-vis their certificates, age, qualification among other requirements, assuring that the Ministry will continue to be transparent all through.

The Commissioner also lauded the Recruitment Committee for doing a transparent job so far, adding that he was pleased that after participating in the CBT exam, that Candidates were able to see their scores, minutes or hours spent on the exam before leaving the centre.

Elder Ubochi used the opportunity to commend Governor Alex Otti for his visionary leadership which he also exhibited in spotting the deficits in the educational sector in the State, reiterating that the Ministry will continue to uphold transparency in line with the vision of the current administration led by Governor Otti.
