The State Chairman, Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN), Comrade Prince Chinedu Eze, has said the agreement they have with the Abia state government can better be described as “provisional agreement” as they have not received the deficit yet.
Recall that information filtered on Thursday morning that the Abia State Government had signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN) over welfare, salaries for Workers
According to the State Government, this followed the conclusion of negotiations between the Abia State Government and the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN) on Thursday.
In a statement signed by Prince Okey Kanu, Commissioner for information revealed that JUSUN will convene a congress as soon as possible to officially call off the strike
According to Kanu, consequent upon the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between both parties, all differences in the implementation of the Consolidated Judicial Salary Structure (CONJUSS) have been resolved.
The statement also announced that the agreed additional amount to be paid to JUSUN is being processed for remittance.
The Government therefore expects that the ongoing strike action be called off immediately to pave the way for the reopening of courts.
Speaking to Southeastposts while commenting on the MoU, Comrade Eze, said that it can only be called an MoU, if the State government remits funds to complete the deficit which is required to offset October, November, December salaries and the 13th month, stressing that there have been various agreements in the past which the State Government has consistently reneged on.
He added that the State government accepted that there is deficit in the money required to offset the salaries of JUSUN workers for October, November, December and the 13th month, assuring that processes have commenced to remit the balance which will lead to the end of the industrial action by JUSUN, Abia State chapter.
