ENUGU – The Enugu State Government has donated 400 modern desktop computers to the Enugu State University of Science and Technology, ESUT, to strengthen digital and experiential learning.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Aloysius-Michaels Okolie, who received the computers, said 200 units would be deployed to the College of Medicine while the remaining 200 would be installed at the university’s 500-capacity ICT Centre at the Main Campus, Ebeano City.
He said the ICT Centre would be activated ahead of the 2026/2027 academic session and would host computer-based examinations including JAMB, NECO and JUPEB.
Prof. Okolie described the donation as part of Governor Peter Mbah’s commitment to repositioning ESUT as a hub for innovation and technology-driven education.
The VC added that ESUT had commenced curriculum reforms to integrate Artificial Intelligence, Cyber Security and Data Science in line with new NUC guidelines. He said the reforms would ensure graduates acquire practical skills that meet industry demands.
He further disclosed that the university would support the state government’s Smart Green Schools initiative by producing teachers with digital competencies to drive education reforms across Enugu State.
The Provost of the College of Medicine, Prof. Uchenna Ekwochi, said the computers would be deployed to the College’s e-library to improve teaching, learning and research. He described the intervention as timely and assured that the equipment would be properly maintained.
