Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma, has said democracy presents Nigerians with unifying and collective choices that drive national development and produce the achievements recorded so far.
In his 2026 Democracy Day message on Friday, Uzodimma noted that Nigerians continue to strengthen the foundations of nation-building through participation, dialogue, and shared commitment to progress.
He acknowledged that enormous development gaps remain, but insists the country cannot deny its greatness and democratic growth.
The governor explained that Nigeria builds and sustains a system driven by the people, and each passing day improves on the efforts of the previous one.
He admitted the democratic journey encounters challenges, but it consistently demonstrates the nation’s resilience, determination, and capacity for growth.
Uzodimma commended the #RenewedHope administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, whom he describes as a steadfast democrat and one of the heroes of the democracy Nigerians enjoy today.
He said the administration witnesses transformative reforms across various sectors focused on positioning Nigeria to offer hope, opportunities, and assurance of growth for every citizen.
The governor urged citizens to keep faith alive in the system and continue to support progressive ideals that promote unity, stability, and development.
“Happy Democracy Day,” Uzodimma concluded.
