Ebonyi State Police Command has arrested two traditional rulers in Amasiri, Afikpo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State over the escalation of the communal war between the community and its neighbour, Okporojo, Oso Edda in Edda Local Government Area of the state.
Recall that hostilities in the area led to the beheading of four people by suspected warlords last week with houses burnt and other valuable property destroyed.
Southeastposts learnt that the police also arrested the Coordinator of Amasiri Development centre, Baron Anya over the crisis.
The arrested monarchs it was gathered are: HRH Basil Onya Idam of Amasiri autonomous community and HRH Godfrey Oko of Ndukwe kingdom.
The traditional rulers, who were dethroned by Governor Francis Nwifuru on Saturday last week, and the coordinator of Amasiri Development centre were arrested on Sunday evening.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Joshua Ukandu, confirmed the arrest of the monarchs and the coordinator to newsmen.
He added that the community is now calm following security measures.
