Chijioke Chukwu, a former Majority Leader in the Abia State House of Assembly and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), says the APC, especially in Abia, is the fastest-growing party in Africa.
He stated this while interacting with journalists in Bende on Tuesday, adding that he is satisfied with the way politicians from other political parties are joining the APC in droves.
The former Abia lawmaker insisted that the influx of politicians to his party points to quality leadership of those at the helm of affairs of the party, as well as the management style of President Bola Tinubu at the national level and that of Rt Hon Benjamin Kalu, the Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives, at the state level.
According to him, the Abia APC, which before now had factions, has been able to manoeuvre itself out of the crises that inundated it in both the national and Abia APC chapters and is now ready to give the President over 75 percent votes in the 2027 election.
The former state lawmaker also said in Abia, Governor Alex Otti is being applauded because the state did not experience any form of good governance before his emergence.
He emphasised that if the previous administrations had done well, the people would have been afforded the opportunity to compare and contrast.
Chukwu called on the Deputy Speaker to join the governorship race, insisting that if Rt Hon Ben Kalu becomes the APC flag bearer in the state, the race to Government House in Abia in 2027 would be interesting and enlivening.
