Chief Charles Lawrence Nwangwa, JP, has said he will maintain high level of transparency, accountability in governance if elected the next Local Government Chairman of Obingwa LGA in the forthcoming LG polls in the State.
Recall that Chief Nwangwa, a renowned Industrialist, had some weeks ago, declared his ambition to run for the seat of chairmanship of Obingwa LGA, promising to prioritize agriculture, education, and rural infrastructural development if elected.
Speaking on Monday in his country home in Umuomei, Obingwa LGA of Abia State, when Pro-women groups including: Abia Arise Women Wing Obingwa chapter, Abia State Women Movement Obingwa Chapter and Onu- ugu Women, came calling, Chief Nwangwa promised to encourage agriculture in the LGA.
He stated that it has become imperative for Nigerians to grow enough food for their households and by extension for commercial purposes, stressing that if elected, he will ensure that lands at the Council are allocated evenly to encourage growing of food in large quantity.
The renowned Industrialist stated that the Governor of Abia State Dr Alex Otti, has stressed that he who will be the Local Government Chairman of Obingwa, will be a man of substance, a man of great capacity and repute, saying he is gunning for the position because he wants to impact lives, change the face of Obingwa.
He added that he has the capacity to deliver, saying he has been a philanthropist for more than 30 years, stressing that as someone who has been close to the people at the grassroots, he understands their plights.
Chief Nwangwa expressed optimism that with their support, he will deliver just as he stated that he will prioritize the health needs of Obingwa people while commending the women for their show of solidarity.
He urged the Pro women groups to publicize him, take his message of redemption and hope to the people, stressing that with him as Chairman, dividends of democracy will get to all the nooks and crannies of Obingwa.
Responding on behalf of the Women Pro-groups, Mrs Victoria Onwubiko, stated that Chief Nwangwa is a household name in Obingwa, Abia and Nigeria at large, revealing that he has been in the act of philanthropy for years.
She assured him that the Pro women groups will leverage on the message of redemption and hope, adding that they will continue to pray for his success in the race.
