A non-governmental organisation, the Hall of Igbo Achievers Foundation (HIAF), has declared Enugu State Governor, Dr. Peter Mbah, winner of its maiden 2025 Best South-East Governor of the Year Award.
The award recognises Mbah’s efforts in education, healthcare, transportation, road infrastructure, and security.
A selection committee, headed by Archbishop Emeritus Dr. Emmanuel Olisa Chukwuma, praised Mbah’s prioritization of education, citing the construction of Smart Green Schools in each of Enugu’s 260 electoral wards.
Mbah’s initiatives include:
- 260 Smart Green Schools with digital infrastructure
- 260 modern Primary Health Centres
- Enugu International Hospital, a 300-bed facility
- CNG-powered buses for sustainable transportation
- Enugu Air to boost transportation
The Governor will receive the award on April 16 at the International Conference Centre, Enugu.
Southeastposts reports that the event will also feature the “Great Igbo Achievers With Integrity and Excellence Awards” for 21 distinguished Igbo individuals.
