Residents of Amasiri, a community in Ebonyi State, have petitioned the National Assembly, alleging human rights violations by the state government and security agencies.
The petition, filed by M.O. Idam Attorneys, accused the Nigerian Army, Police, and NSCDC of carrying out unlawful operations in the area, resulting in extrajudicial killings, blockage of federal highways, and destruction of homes and cultural heritage.
The operations were conducted under a curfew imposed by Governor Francis Nwifuru, following a long-standing boundary dispute with neighboring Oso-Edda communities over a farm settlement known as Okporojo.
The residents claim the operations have caused severe hardship, disrupted daily life, and restricted access to basic services.
They also said schools have been shut, preventing students from sitting for national exams, and medical facilities are inaccessible.
The petitioners also accused Security operatives of destroying homes and looting ancestral relics.
The residents called on the National Assembly to investigate and intervene to protect their rights and restore peace in Amasiri.
