Anambra Govt Reopens Nnewi New Motorcycle Spare Parts Market

The Anambra State Government has reopened the Nnewi New Motorcycle Spare Parts Market, which was shut a week ago for non-compliance with the government’s order to open every Monday for business.

‎Southeastposts reports that the Special Adviser to the Governor on Trade and Markets, Chief Evarist Uba, had shut the market during a visit, faulting traders for defying the order.

‎Uba had threatened to extend the ban if traders failed to comply with the directive to operate on Mondays, citing the need to boost economic activities in the state.

‎The ban was lifted on Monday after Nnewi North Local Government Chairman, Mr Echezona Anazodo, visited the market and found significant compliance.

‎Anazodo praised traders for complying, stating that shops of non-compliant traders would be sealed.

‎He emphasised that the entire market shouldn’t suffer due to a few traders, saying, “I am happy to see that traders complied with the order to resume for business. I want to believe that if there was even half of this turnout last week, the market would not have been shut down.”

‎Anazodo warned that the government would take a tough stance on traders who continued to flout the rules, adding, “We don’t want a situation where the entire market would be shutdown just because of a few traders, instead, those traders should bear their brunt themselves.”
