Former presidential candidate Professor Kingsley Moghalu has dismissed media reports that he was the Labour Party’s candidate in the recently concluded Anambra State gubernatorial election.
In a statement on Tuesday via his verified X account, Moghalu voiced discontent with what he termed “false and lazy reporting” after many newspapers and online platforms published stories identifying him as the Labour Party flagbearer, with some even using his picture.
He said, “These reports are false, unfortunate and smack of lazy reporting, as they were apparently conflating Chief George Moghalu, who was the Labour Party candidate in the election, with me,” Moghalu said.
The former Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Deputy Governor clarified that he is not a member of any political party, talk more of being a candidate in the November 8, 2025, Anambra governorship election, adding that he has since quit partisan politics.
“I resigned from participation in partisan politics in September 2022, ahead of the 2023 presidential election,” he said, recalling that he was the Young Progressives Party, YPP, presidential candidate in 2019.
Moghalu further called on all media outlets that published the misleading reports to issue prompt corrections and retractions.
