A call has gone to Abia Civil servants to change their mentality, comport themselves and prove that they are capable and qualified in discharging their duties not minding whose ox is gored.
Abia Head of Service, Dr. Ngozi Queen Obioma gave the advice on Tuesday while declaring open the seminar organized by her office for Civil/Public Servants going for 2022/2023 promotion, conversion and confirmation examinations in the state.
She stated that the seminar was organized for those going for promotion examinations to prepare them for more dedicated services.
Dr. Obioma, said that scorecards of workers’ performances are being documented by the present administration to take note of their performances but expressed fears that some civil servants will be witch-hunted through the monitoring of their files.
She reminded civil servants of the need to move away from analogue system of service by becoming computer literate, adding that digitized system of discharging duties, increases the quality of service delivery.
She tasked them to prove that they are capable and qualified to discharge their duties perfectly, warning that her office will not fail to disqualify any one who failed to measure up to standard.
The HoS revealed that workers from grade level 14 and above must be tested on computer literacy and therefore, charged the workers to utilize the gains of the seminar in enhancing their careers .
On his part, The Director of Training, office of the Head of Service, Chima Ogwo informed that the training would give the workers the opportunity to know their areas of interests and therefore, charged them to maximize the opportunities provided by the seminar.
Southeastposts.com, learnt that during the seminar, the civil servants were warned against engaging in misconducts such as fighting on duty, belonging to secret societies, age falsification, certificate falsification, unapproved leave, loitering and absenteeism without permission among others just as they were also advised to avoid lateness to work, financial embarrassment to the government, poor attitude to work among others.
