The Abia State Government has cancelled the monthly environmental sanitation exercise earlier scheduled for Saturday, May 30, 2026.

In a statement signed by the Commissioner for Environment, Mr. Philemon Ogbonna, and made available to newsmen by the ministry’s Public Relations Officer, Obioma Chidinma, residents were told there will be no restriction of movement across the state on the scheduled date.

“Citizens are free to go about their normal, lawful, and economic activities without interruption”. the statement said.

The ministry said despite the cancellation, maintaining a clean, safe, and healthy environment across Abia remains important. Residents were urged to continue observing proper sanitation practices in their homes, markets, offices, and business premises.
