Gov Otti Approves Appointment of Meribole as Acting SSG

‎Governor Alex Otti of Abia State has approved the appointment of Dr. Emmanuel Meribole as the Acting Secretary to the State Government.

‎Dr. Meribole currently serves as the Special Adviser to the Governor on Projects.

‎A statement on Friday morning by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Ukoha Njoku Ukoha, said Meribole will assume the role of Acting Secretary to the State Government (SSG) with effect from January 1, 2026.

‎The Abia State government stated that to ensure seamless transition, the handover process will commence on Monday, December 15, 2025.

‎Ukoha revealed that during the transition period, Professor Kenneth Kalu will work close collaboration with Dr. Meribole to ensure the continuity of government operations and the smooth execution of the administration’s policies and programs.

‎The statement added that this arrangement is sequel to the approval granted by Governor Alex Otti, for the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Professor Kenneth Kalu (FCA), to proceed on a leave of absence.

‎Ukoha also conveyed Governor Otti’s deep appreciation to Professor Kenneth Kalu for his outstanding service and dedication to the people of Abia State.

‎Emmanuel Meribole is a medical doctor, a seasoned multi talented professional who retired as the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development.

‎The statement reads in part: “Sequel to the approval granted by His Excellency, Governor Alex Otti, for the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Professor Kenneth Kalu (FCA), to proceed on a leave of absence, the Governor has approved the appointment of Dr. Emmanuel Meribole as the Acting Secretary to the State Government. Dr. Meribole, who currently serves as the Special Adviser to the Governor on Projects, will assume the role of Acting Secretary to the State Government (SSG) with effect from January 1, 2026.”
