Abia State chapter of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has rejected the results of the Abia State local government chairmanship and councillorship elections, vowing to seek redress in the law court.
The position of the party was made known by the State Chairman of APGA, Onuoha Egbe Benon when he addressed the press in Umuahia, the State Capital.
Benon, insisted that the results released by the Abia State Independent Electoral Commission (ABSIEC) was not a reflection of what happened at the polls, adding that there is evidence that APGA won the polls.
He said the decision to challenge the results were taken after studying what took place and getting feedback, stressing that his party was convinced that the elections were not free and fair as presented by the Abia State electoral umpire.
Benon alleged that results were announced while collations were still going on, adding that many votes belonging to APGA candidates were under-declared.
