‎Troops, police foil kidnap attempt, rescue 5 victims in Imo

OWERRI — Joint security forces have foiled a kidnap attempt and rescued five victims in Ohaji/Egbema Local Government Area of Imo State.

‎According to security analyst Zagazola Makama, troops of the 34 Artillery Brigade under Operation UDO KA, working with the Nigeria Police and local vigilantes, carried out the rescue operation at about 6:55 p.m. on Tuesday, July 15, around Obokofia Community.

‎Intelligence sources said the joint team responded swiftly to distress information, disrupting the kidnappers’ operation and successfully rescuing all five victims unhurt.

‎The suspected kidnappers fled the scene on sighting the security operatives. Efforts are ongoing to track down and apprehend the fleeing suspects.

‎The successful operation highlights ongoing efforts by Operation UDO KA and other security agencies to curb kidnapping and other violent crimes in the South-East.
