A part of efforts to ensure that people feel secured at all times, the Anambra State Police Command has moved decisively to counter rising fear triggered by circulating panic-laden voice and unverified security messages on social media.
To achieve this the Command has, therefore, re-assured residents of their safety; stating that it is treating the situation with utmost seriousness despite the lack of credible evidence supporting the alarming claims.
The command said Police operatives have heightened surveillance, expanded visibility policing, and reinforced routine and targeted patrols across all locations mentioned in the viral recordings.
According to the Command, preliminary investigations show that the circulating messages lack verification and appear designed to cause unnecessary public panic.
Also, the Police said they have adopted robust preventive measures to ensure that no security concern—real or imagined—is overlooked.
Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu fwc, mnips, PhD, has also directed all Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, Tactical Units, and Joint Security Teams to maintain maximum alertness, intensify intelligence gathering, and sustain aggressive day-and-night patrols throughout the state.
The Command appealed to residents to remain calm and go about their lawful activities without fear, assuring Ndi Anambra that officers are fully prepared, vigilant, and committed to safeguarding lives and property.
The command further warned the public against the spread of unverified security information capable of inciting panic, noting that such actions may attract legal consequences.
For emergencies or security assistance, the Police encouraged the public to contact the Police via the Control Room Hotline: 07039194332 or the Emergency Number: 112.
