The state Government has commenced massive removal and demolition of shanties and dismantling of illegal motor parks along Abia tower axis of Enugu Portharcourt expressway and the Amachara axis.
Speaking during the exercise, the General Manager of Umuahia Capital Development Authority, Mr. Kingsley Agomoh, said the exercise is in line with the Government’s commitment to improve the aesthetics of the state and ensure orderliness in the conduct of activities.
He explained that the owners of the illegal motor parks and shanties were duly informed and given notice(s) to remove them and also move to Ohiya trailer and bus terminal at Ohiya for their activities.
The UCDA General Manager, explained that the Government will no longer tolerate the activities of operators of illegal motor parks and erecting of shanties, which deface the State capital.
Agomoh directed operators of trailers and buses and other transporters to move to Ohiya Trailer and Bus terminal, which is conducive for their buses, pointing out that the exercise is not targeting any person and is in the interest of the state.
He maintained that the state is witnessing transformation in infrastructure, evident through the numerous projects the present administration has embarked upon that have changed the physical outlook of the state.
Agomoh emphasized the need for people to support the present administration that has shown genuine efforts in the development of state.
