‎The Commissioner of Police, Abia State Command, CP Wilfred Olutokunbo Afolabi, psc(+), mnips, has held a strategic briefing with officers of the Violent Crime Response Unit, VCRU, of the Command.
‎
‎In his address, CP Afolabi commended the officers for their critical role in sustaining peace and security in the State.
‎
‎He, however, cautioned that periods of relative calm must not lead to complacency, as criminal elements often use such times to regroup and plan.
‎
‎In a statement by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Maureen Chinaka, the CP charged the officers to remain proactive, alert and unwavering in their efforts to ensure the safety and security of Abia residents.
‎
‎He announced that the Command would strengthen its operational capacity through targeted training aimed at improving effectiveness.
‎
‎CP Afolabi disclosed that a combat training exercise has been scheduled for next week and directed that all operational gaps and combat-related needs be urgently identified and forwarded for prompt intervention.
‎
‎He further stressed the need to intensify intelligence gathering, noting that all operations must be intelligence-driven to achieve optimal results.
‎
‎Reiterating the importance of discipline, which he described as the bedrock of the Nigeria Police Force and a core value championed by the Inspector-General of Police, the CP urged officers to maintain the highest standards of professionalism, respect for human rights and integrity in the discharge of their duties.
