‎Gov Mbah Dismisses High Taxation Claims

0

‎Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, has dismissed claims of high taxation, calling them “a pathetic misconception” promoted by opposition and beneficiaries of the old order.

‎Mbah said his administration grew the state’s Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) by widening the tax net, blocking leakages, and tackling sharp practices.

‎He noted that the state government doesn’t control tax rates, as that’s the federal government’s prerogative.

‎Mbah highlighted IGR growth: N26.8bn (2022), N37.4bn (2023), N180.5bn (2024), and N406.7bn (2025).

‎According to him, his administration reduced payable amounts for certain services by 70%, especially in land sectors, adding that a new law aims to eliminate roadblocks and unauthorised collections.

‎He added that the government will enforce and educate to check extortion.
