Ebonyi State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to inclusive governance, assuring that the voices of all stakeholders, regardless of political affiliation will continue to be heard and respected.
Speaking during a press briefing in Abakaliki to mark Nigeria’s 65th Independence Anniversary and the 29th anniversary of Ebonyi State’s creation, the Special Assistant to Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru on Inter-Party Affairs, Comrade Sunday Nwambam, attributed the prevailing peace in the state to the governor’s tolerant and inclusive leadership style.
He noted that opposition parties are increasingly identifying with the governor’s vision in a shared effort to consolidate peace and drive development across the state.
Speaking on the historic excitement surrounding Ebonyi’s creation on October 1, 1996, he described the state’s progress as a testament to the dreams of its founding fathers.
He lauded past governors—Dr. Sam Egwu, Chief Martin Elechi, and Engr. Dave Umahi—for laying a strong foundation, adding that Governor Nwifuru has, in just two years, redefined governance in the state.
He highlighted key projects under the current administration, including the nearly completed Vanco Tunnel and Flyover, the State Industrial City, the Civil Servants’ Housing Estate, the Amaeze-Izzo Housing Estate, the new airport runway, smart schools, and the Aeronautic and ICT Universities.
These, he said, are complemented by extensive road expansion, scholarship schemes, and empowerment programs targeting youths and vulnerable groups.
According to Nwambam, these initiatives have portrayed Governor Nwifuru as a unifying figure, whose peace-oriented approach has reduced political tensions and fostered unprecedented inter-party collaboration.
While highlighting the importance of peace and stability, he lauded the governor’s proactive interventions in conflict-prone communities and boundary disputes, adding that peace remain at the core of the administration’s agenda.
