The People’s Democratic Party, (PDP) in Abia State, has insisted that a PDP-led government in the State would perform better with the humongous amount that accrues to the State from the Federation account.
The main opposition party in the state also maintained that leveraging on experience, vision and competence of party men and women to deliver effective governance, development, and prosperity to Abians, a PDP-led government in the State would lead Abia to the promised land.
PDP’s position was contained in a communiqué issued at the end of Abia North stakeholders of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) meeting held at the country home of Distinguished Senator Mao Ohuabunwa, Pro-Chancellor, University of Port Harcourt, Member of the PDP National Executive Committee (NEC), and Member of the Board of Trustees (BoT), under the chairmanship of Elder Abraham Amah, State Chairman of PDP, Abia State.
Also during the meeting, stakeholders of the party re-committed themselves to the ideals of the party and pledged to remain faithful, steadfast just as they resolved that integrity, truthfulness, and loyalty must guide all party activities and decisions.
They reiterated that sabotage of collective causes for personal gain is unacceptable and stressed that history will always vindicate those who stand faithfully for unity, progress, and victory.
While reacting to the 2023 general election and lessons learnt, party stakeholders at the meeting acknowledged that the mistakes and ill actions of some party members which contributed to PDP’s unfortunate outing during the 2023 general elections have been identified.
The stakeholders also made a firm resolve to learn from history, both the good and the bad, and to adopt new strategies that will ensure discipline, inclusiveness, and victory in future elections.
Furthermore, stakeholders reaffirmed the party’s readiness to rebuild and reposition PDP at all levels in Abia North and Abia State, present credible, competent, and visionary candidates for all elective offices, remain united, focused, and courageous despite current political challenges.
The stakeholders also emphasized that those to fly the flag of the PDP must be men and women of capacity, character, and competence who can successfully navigate the ship of governance and land it safely for the good of the people.
In the communiqué signed by the Chairman of the party, Elder Abraham Amah, the stakeholders pledged to strengthen grassroots mobilization across Abia North, build inclusive and transparent party structures, ensure unity of purpose and strategic collaboration ahead the next elections just as they resolved to work collectively to restore the PDP as the party of choice in Abia State and across Nigeria.
