A middle aged man, identified as Mr. Sunday Obiozor Nwaka of Abagana, Njikoka Local Government Area (LGA), Anambra state has allegedly set his wife ablaze over alleged infidelity.
According to reports Nwaka, reportedly poured fuel on his wife and mother of six children, Mrs Blessing Chioma Nwaka, and set fire on her immediately after accusing her of flirting around with men.
The incident which occurred on Tuesday left the victim scampering for safety while carrying a 3rd degree burn on her body.
Meanwhile, Anambra state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Tochukwu Ikenga, who had confirmed the incident said the victim later died around 3am on Wednesday, adding that her husband had also been arrested while investigation into the matter has commenced.
Similarly, Anambra state governor’s wife, Mrs Nonye Soludo, has vowed to follow up closely on the case so as to ensure that justice is served on the late woman.
A statement by Mrs Soludo’s aide, Mr Daniel Ezigwe, revealed that the Governor’s wife described the incident as gruesome and evil, adding that Mrs Soludo vowed to see to the end of the case, insisting that the full justice must be made to take prime place in the whole process.
