\u200eThe Commissioner of Police, Enugu State Command, CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa, has directed Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, and other supervisory officers to strengthen command and control in their jurisdictions.

\n\u200eGiwa gave the directive on Thursday during the Command\u2019s monthly strategic conference at the Senior Police Officers\u2019 Mess, Agbani Road, Enugu.
\n\u200e
\n\u200eHe said the directive is in line with instructions issued by the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, at a recent conference with strategic senior officers.
\n\u200e
\n\u200eThe CP charged officers to uphold professionalism and integrity, and warned that corruption, extortion, and disrespect for citizens\u2019 rights would not be tolerated.
\n\u200e
\n\u200eHe added that supervisory officers would be held vicariously liable for such misconduct.
\n\u200e
\n\u200eGiwa also directed Area Commanders, DPOs, the Head of the Distress Response Squad, DRS, the Commander and Sub-Commanders of the Violent Crime Response Unit, VCRU, and other operational commanders to sustain visibility policing and intensify raids of criminal hideouts across the state.
\n\u200e
\n\u200eHe further tasked the Head of the Command\u2019s Intelligence Department and other intelligence officers to strengthen intelligence gathering to support crime-fighting operations.

\n\u200eThe conference was attended by Deputy and Assistant Commissioners of Police heading departments and formations, Area Commanders, DPOs, and heads of units and sections.

\n\u200eIt featured step-down training presentations by DCP Hope Isiani Okereke, Deputy Commissioner, State CID; CSP Chukwuka Odum, Officer-in-Charge, VCRU Anti-Kidnapping Sub-Unit; and an enlightenment session on the Liquor Act by CSP Justice Attah, the Command\u2019s Legal Officer.
