{"id":7204,"date":"2026-02-13T10:49:00","date_gmt":"2026-02-13T10:49:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/southeastposts.com\/?p=7204"},"modified":"2026-02-13T10:49:00","modified_gmt":"2026-02-13T10:49:00","slug":"abia-working-towards-zero-emission-transport-system-commissioner-for-transport","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/southeastposts.com\/index.php\/2026\/02\/13\/abia-working-towards-zero-emission-transport-system-commissioner-for-transport\/","title":{"rendered":"Abia Working Towards Zero Emission Transport System ~\u00a0 Commissioner for Transport"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\u200eAbia State Commissioner for Transport, Dr. Chimezie \u1ee4kaegbu has urged Abians to switch to electric vehicles to secure a cleaner climate.<br \/>\n\u200e<br \/>\n\u200eSpeaking with newsmen in Umuahia, he applauded the Government of Dr. Alex Otti for his unwavering commitment to secure a cleaner atmosphere for Abians, through strategic planning in the transport sector.<br \/>\n\u200e<br \/>\n\u200eHe revealed plans by the state government to import extra eighty electric busses into the State, noting that at the end of 2026, Abia State should have about 100 electric buses, for a safer and cleaner transport system, emphasising the need for Abians to follow suit.<br \/>\n\u200e<br \/>\n\u200eWhile noting that electric vehicle is a new innovation globally, the Commissioner said that Abians will gradually fit into the scheme, adding that the onus rests on the government to lead the way for Abians to follow.<br \/>\n\u200e<br \/>\n\u200eExpressing optimism that in a short while Abians will begin to patronize the mass electric vehicles, \u1ee4kaegbu described the new initiative as a cost saver, highlighting that the major cost in the vehicle is just the battery.<br \/>\n\u200e<br \/>\n\u200eHe also disclosed that Abia already has about three dual charging Stations at the ICC, which can charge 6 vehicles at a stretch.<br \/>\n\u200e<br \/>\n\u200e&#8221;If you go to ICC, we already have three dual charging stations, which means it can charge 6 vehicles at a stretch. By the end of this week or early next week, we shall complete 3 other charging stations at Afro Beverages in Aba. Before the completion of the central bus terminal, we shall install another twenty charging stations. As new buses arrive, more charging stations will come.
