A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Farouk Aliyu, says the ruling party aimed to win the recently conducted gubernatorial election in Anambra State.

\n\u200eSpeaking on Monday, Aliyu stressed that Governor Chukwuma Soludo\u2019s decision to support President Bola Tinubu was made independently.

\n\u200eHe insisted that there was no agreement between the Federal Government and any state to force political alignment.

\n\u200eAliyu added that the APC contested in Anambra and lost, emphasising that the outcome should be accepted as part of the democratic process.

\n\u200eThe APC chieftain also dismissed allegations that anti-corruption agencies were being weaponised against opposition figures.

\n\u200eHe insisted that prosecutions by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) were based on allegations and evidence, not party affiliation.
