{"id":6183,"date":"2025-10-15T17:06:05","date_gmt":"2025-10-15T17:06:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/southeastposts.com\/?p=6183"},"modified":"2025-10-15T17:06:05","modified_gmt":"2025-10-15T17:06:05","slug":"anambra-guber-inec-reaffirms-commitment-to-deliver-credible-transparent-election","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/southeastposts.com\/index.php\/2025\/10\/15\/anambra-guber-inec-reaffirms-commitment-to-deliver-credible-transparent-election\/","title":{"rendered":"Anambra Guber: INEC Reaffirms Commitment to Deliver Credible, Transparent Election"},"content":{"rendered":"<div align=\"left\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Ahead the November 8 Governorship election in Anambra State, the Acting Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Mrs. May Agbamuche-Mbu, has reaffirmed the Commission\u2019s preparedness to deliver a credible, transparent, and seamless governorship election.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div align=\"left\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Agbamuche-Mbu, who gave the assurance on Wednesday in Abuja during INEC\u2019s third quarterly consultative meeting with political parties, said the Commission remains steadfast in its commitment to transparency and adherence to its election timetable.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div align=\"left\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">She said out of the 13 major pre-election activities outlined for the Anambra poll, 10 have already been completed, leaving only three outstanding \u2014 the publication of the notice of poll on October 25, the end of campaigns on November 6, and the election proper on November 8.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div align=\"left\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cThe Commission has been working tirelessly to ensure that the process is smooth and credible,\u201d Agbamuche-Mbu stated. \u201cWe have convened several security meetings at national, state, and local levels. All non-sensitive materials have been deployed to the state, while voter sensitisation and education are ongoing.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div align=\"left\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The Acting Chairman also gave updates on preparations for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Area Council Elections scheduled for February 21, 2026. She disclosed that eight out of the 13 activities in the FCT election timetable have been concluded, while arrangements are in progress to complete the remaining five.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div align=\"left\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">She further reported that the August 16, 2025, bye-elections covering two senatorial districts, five federal constituencies, and nine state assembly seats were successfully conducted, with winners declared and certificates of return issued in compliance with the Electoral Act 2022.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div align=\"left\"><\/div>\n<div align=\"left\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Agbamuche-Mbu hinted that 171 associations have submitted applications for registration as political parties, out of which 14 have met the legal and constitutional criteria to proceed to the next stage of evaluation.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div align=\"left\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">While commending the cooperation of political parties and the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC), she took a moment to pay tribute to the immediate past INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, describing his tenure, which ended on October 7, 2025, as one of innovation, institutional strengthening, and public trust-building.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div align=\"left\"><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Ahead the November 8 Governorship election in Anambra State, the Acting Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Mrs. May Agbamuche-Mbu, has reaffirmed the Commission\u2019s preparedness to deliver a credible, transparent, and seamless governorship election.
