Abia Head of Service, Benson Ojeikere has called on Public Servants to embrace result-oriented service delivery, emphasising that delays in task execution deepen challenges and weaken the credibility of the Public Service.
A statement from the office of the head of service, signed by Adaeze Ralph Igbokwe, revealed that Ojeikere
made the call during a mentorship session organised in Umuahia, to address key issues affecting service delivery.
The HOS identified unethical practices, service delivery delays, declining professional competence, and poor work attitudes as major challenges confronting the Service.
The number one Civil Servant made it clear that confronting these issues is critical to improving performance and strengthening public trust, and stressed the need for a renewed mindset, continuous learning, and teamwork as essential tools for driving positive change.
According to him, these factors are determinants to building a professional, responsive, and dependable Public Service and challenged them to be proactive, self-reliant, and responsive in their duties ensuring that their actions add measurable value to the system.
Ojeikere who urged Public Servants to uphold speed, excellence, and responsibility in service delivery encouraged them to seek support when necessary, adding that collaborative effort yields better results more than individual effort.
He called for disciplinary actions against staff who indulge in indiscipline and practices that undermine the integrity of the Public Service.
