Governor Alex Otti of Abia State will on Tuesday, officially unveil the Abia State 25-Year Development Plan, a landmark and visionary policy framework of the present administration.
A statement by the state Commissioner for Information, Prince Okey Kanu which was made available to newsmen, said the unveiling ceremony is scheduled to hold by 2:00 pm at the International Conference Centre (ICC), Umuahia.
According to the statement, the unveiling follows the outcome of the State Executive Council meeting held at Government House, Umuahia, and presided over by Governor Alex Otti.
Kanu said the 25-Year Development Plan represents one of the most significant legacy initiatives of the administration, carefully designed to provide a deliberate, transformative and long-term roadmap for the socio-economic advancement of Abia State up to the middle of the 21st century.
The Abia Information boss further said the Development Plan articulates a comprehensive vision for economic resilience, infrastructural expansion, social advancement and generational security, adding that it is strategically structured around six key pillars, namely: people and resources; growth and stability; sustainable economy; social infrastructure and inclusion; governance and reform; as well as cross-sector linkages.
According to the statement, when fully implemented, the plan is expected to build a dynamic and inclusive economy by unlocking local potential, strengthening productivity and attracting both local and global investments across critical sectors of the state’s economy.
The plan also places strong emphasis on the development of modern, climate-resilient infrastructure, including clean energy solutions, digital connectivity and sustainable urban planning.
Kanu said, “The Development Plan prioritizes strong institutional frameworks that promote transparency, accountability, citizen participation, peace, security and inclusive development. It is a future-ready blueprint intended to reposition Abia State on a sustainable path of growth, competitiveness and prosperity.”
The statement assured stakeholders, development partners and the general public of its firm commitment to the diligent and faithful implementation of this Development Plan, which according to the State government, is projected to elevate the State to the forefront of economic well-being and development among states in Nigeria.
Kanu therefore, urged development partners, UNDP, PIND, PACE, PWC, AGEAC, Local Government Chairmen, traditional rulers, student bodies, persons with disabilities (PWD), and other stakeholders to witness and participate in this historic event.
