Governor Alex Otti of Abia State will on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, officially unveil the state 25 year Development Plan.
Revealing this in Umuahia while briefing newsmen on the outcome of this week’s State Executive Council meeting, the Commissioner for Information, Prince Okey Kanu explained that the plan will chart a deliberate and transformative roadmap for Abia State.
The government also described the plan as the most significant legacy project the Otti’s administration is presenting to the state.
The Information boss said, the Development Plan is patterned to rest on six key pillars, including: people and resources, growth and stability, sustainable economy, social infrastructure and inclusion, governance and reform, and cross-sector linkages.
The Commissioner stated that after implementation, the plan would help to build a dynamic and inclusive economy by unlocking local potential and attracting global investment across key sectors in the state.
Giving insights on the purpose of the plan, Kanu stated that it will in addition seek a future for modern climate-resilient infrastructure, including clean energy, digital connectivity and sustainable urban planning.
He added, “The plan during implementation will also be governed by strong institutions that promote transparency, citizen participation, ensuring peace, security and inclusive development.”
On his part, the Commissioner for Budget and Planing, Mr. Kingsley Anosike observed that before the inception of Governor Otti’s administration, there was a 30-year development plan.
Anosike, who described the development plan as future-proof, explained that the development plan is different because it is going to be backed by legislations.
