‎Police Confirm Attack on Worshippers in Anambra Community

‎Police in Anambra have confirmed videos of attack on worshipers at an Anglican Church in Lilu community, Ihiala Local Government Area.

‎During the Sunday morning attack, sources said the wife of the presiding clergy in the church was shot dead, while other worshipers sustained injuries.

‎In a press statement on Monday morning, the spokesperson for Anambra State Police Command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga said the Commissioner of Police Anambra State Police Command, CP Ikioye Orutugu has condemned the attack.

‎The CP described those who carried out the attack as armed criminals, stating that it resulted in one confirmed death and seriously injured few.

‎Ikenga added that the church building was partially burnt, and other property destroyed at a church premises in Lilu, Ihiala Local Government Area.

‎The Commissioner of Police in the state, also said the heinous and abominable act committed against innocent worshippers is not only an assault on the community but a grave affront to shared values of peace, sanctity of life, and freedom of worship.

‎The Command extended its deepest sympathies to the families of the victims and to the entire Lilu community, assuring the public that the Police shall relentlessly hunt down the perpetrators of this crime.
