Otti’s Aide Clarifies Motive Behind Visit to President Tinubu

Abia State government has clarified that Governor Alex Otti’s recent visit to President Bola Tinubu was strictly centered on discussions regarding the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, and not on political realignments.

‎In a statement issued on Thursday, Otti’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ferdinand Ekeoma, dismissed claims by former Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Charles Ogbonnaya, who alleged that the governor met the president to negotiate a defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 elections.

‎Ekeoma explained that the meeting was a continuation of Otti’s long-standing efforts to secure Kanu’s release.

‎He added that the governor had earlier visited Kanu at the Sokoto Correctional Centre on November 30, 2025, before proceeding to the State House in Abuja to engage Tinubu.
