Abia State Government says an advance team comprising three members from the Office of the Executive Governor of Abia State Dr. Alex Otti, were attacked in the early hours of Tuesday, December 2, 2025.
A press statement on Tuesday by the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Otti, Ukoha Njoku Ukoha, said the team was on duty to Sam Mbakwe Airport, Imo State, before they were attacked by unidentified gunmen.
According to the statement, the incident occurred between Umuowa and Ihite junction, before the Sam Mbakwe Airport Junction in Imo State.
The release however, assured Abians and the general public that the convoy of Governor Otti was not involved in the attack, adding that no life was lost during the unfortunate incident.
The statement reads: “In the early hours of today, December 2nd, an advance team of three members from the Office of the Executive Governor of Abia State, His Excellency Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, on duty to Sam Mbakwe Airport, Imo State, was attacked by unidentified gunmen. The incident occurred between Umuowa and Ihite junction, shortly before the Sam Mbakwe Airport Junction in Imo State.
”The general public is hereby informed that the convoy of Governor Otti was not involved in this attack, and no life was lost during the unfortunate incident.”
