Abia State Commissioner of Police, CP Danladi Isa, has advised Abians and school authorities to ensure the security of their wards and pupils by having a clear plan for who takes and brings them from school.
The CP also urged school authorities to properly verify and interview persons coming to pick up pupils or students from school just as he advised them to endeavour to educate pupils/students on security tips during routine morning devotion.
CP Isa gave the advise while reacting to the arrest of six suspects for child stealing/trafficking by men at Owerrinta Police Divisional Headquarters.

Giving further insights on the arrests of the suspects in a statement made available to newsmen on Friday evening, the Police spokesperson said men at Owerrinta Police Divisional Headquarters acted on a report of a father who had taken his three children (two boys and a girl) to school, later went to pick them up, only to be informed that the children had gone home and got home.
According to the statement, detectives of the Command later apprehended Onyinyechi Christopher (female, 25 years) and Ogechi Chidi (female, 31 years).
The statement added that preliminary investigation revealed that while the children were on their way home from school on the said day, they encountered Onyinyechi Christopher and Ogechi Chidi, who lured them with biscuits and promised them soft drinks if they followed them.
DSP Chinaka stated that the suspects then took the children to Bernadette Chukwu (female), who in turn transported them to Ebonyi State and sold them to Patience Nnaji (female), Felix Ikechukwu (male) and Abraham Ibiam (male).
According to the statement, the rescued children have been reunited with their families.
