Four Suspects Arrested in Uturu for Unlawful Possession of firearms

Abia State Police Command says it has apprehended four suspects for criminal conspiracy, robbery activities and unlawful possession of firearms.

Police Public Relations Officer PPRO, Abia State Command, DSP Maureen Chinaka, disclosed this in a statement made available to Journalists Wednesday evening.

According to the statement, officers of the Uturu Divisional Police Headquarters made the arrests after leveraging on a complaint by a student of Abia State University (ABSU), who reported that he was accosted, assaulted and dispossessed of his phone.

Those apprehended according to the statement, include: Emmanuel Ifeanyi, Adiwo Chukwuemeka, Ogbonna John, and Hope Worenwu all students of Abia State University (ABSU).

It was further revealed that during a search operation, items recovered from suspects included: one cut-to-size double-barrel locally made gun, four live cartridges, one black mask, three caps with two bearing the emblem of De Norsemen Club International.

Other items recovered are: one IPhone 12 and one REDMI phone which was identified by the victim as the one taken from him.

Meanwhile, during interrogation, the suspects confessed to being members of the Vikings Confraternity just as it was revealed that the case has been transferred to the Anti-Cultism Unit of the Command as investigation continues while efforts are ongoing to apprehend other members of the gang.

Responding to the feat by his men, Commissioner of Police Abia State Command, CP Danladi Isa, urged Abians to swiftly report any security challenge, suspicious persons, or criminal activities to the nearest police station or contact the Command through the following emergency lines:08035415405, 08079210004, 08079210005, 08079210006.
