The remains of Hon. Lady Christie Uche Nwoke were on Saturday, October 25, 2025, laid to rest at her residence in Dozie Way, Ndume Ibeku, Umuahia North Local Government Area of Abia State, amid an outpouring of tributes celebrating her life of service, philanthropy, and faith.

Hon. Lady Nwoke, who died on 21 July 2025, was remembered as a visionary leader, philanthropist, and devout Christian. She was also a prominent chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and a committed advocate for women and community development.
Speaking at the funeral, former Minister of State for Mines and Steel Development and APC stalwart, Dr Sampson Ogah, described the late Lady Nwoke as a hardworking, trustworthy, and dependable woman who gave her best to every assignment.

“Lady Uche meant a lot to Abia APC and to the Abia Rejoice family. She pursued every responsibility to a logical conclusion and lived a life of commitment and service,” Ogah said.

He urged the family to uphold her virtues of truthfulness, diligence, and devotion to humanity, noting that she had lived a fulfilled life worthy of emulation.
Quoting from the Scripture, Ogah encouraged the bereaved to draw strength from her faith. “Your mother led you to Christ. When you have solace in Christ, death loses its sting. Life must be lived with eternity in view,” he added.
Traditional rulers from the area, including HRM Eze Donatus Gabriel Aguiyi (Offo Ndu II of Ndume Ibeku) and HRM Eze Emmanuel Onwubuariri of Azueke Ndume Autonomous Community, also paid glowing tributes, describing Lady Nwoke as a peace-loving woman who worked tirelessly to promote harmony and progress in her community.

They expressed confidence that her family would sustain her enduring legacies of peace, truth, and compassion.

In his sermon, Pastor Chika Abundance of the Living Faith Church, Ndume Ibeku, speaking from Isaiah 57:1, described death as a mystery and a transition to glory for believers.
He reminded the congregation that “death is a debt all must pay” and urged the family to continue walking in faith while preserving their mother’s good works.

Lady Nwoke’s son, Engr. Chinedu Nwoke, described his late mother as “a strong woman, philanthropist, and political leader” who lived for others.

He pledged to uphold her values and participate actively in politics, saying he learned much from her example.

Her daughter, Dr Mrs Chika Pamela Ikedum, expressed pride in her mother’s accomplishments, describing her as “a prayerful and selfless woman who touched many lives.”

She vowed to carry on her legacy of kindness and service to God and humanity, revealing that through her late mother’s foundation, she will continue to impact vulnerable persons in the society.

Hon. Lady Christie Uche Nwoke aged 69, is survived by her children, Dr Mrs Chika Pamela Ikedum and Engr Chinedu Nwoko, as well as grandchildren, sons-in-law, and extended family members.
