Abia State Traditional Rulers Council on Wednesday warned the Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives Benjamin Kalu against comments that could pitch the governor, Alex Otti against President Bola Tinubu.
The monarchs in a statement signed by their chairman, Eze Linus Nto Mbah, and his three deputies after an emergency meeting in Umuahia, the state capital, also appealed to Kalu to stop making public statements that could incite division or create political tension in the state.
According to them,”It is on this premise that we, as custodians of our culture, call for a ceasefire on the ongoing acrimony and unnecessary outbursts.
The Monarchs said they would not remain quiet while their disagreement continued to escalate, warning that such altercations could have adverse effects on the peace and progress of the state.
They dismissed Kalu’s claims that the governor had underperformed despite receiving substantial funds, describing the statements as unsubstantiated while reaffirming their support for the governor just as they passed a vote of confidence on him.
“It is on record that no governor of Abia State has demonstrated the political will to fix Abia State than Governor Alex Otti, OFR, Chioma Ndi Abia”, the statement added.
