The Abia State Police Command has insisted that it did not receive any report at the Command Headquarters, Area Commands nor any Divisional Police Headquarters on the alleged report bothering on the killings of young and adult males by members of local community security watch groups in Umuogele (Aba South LGA), Iheorji (Aba South LGA), and Nkpaevula (Ugwunagbo LGA) with the backing of their respective traditional rulers (Ezes).
The Abia Police Command also said no related complaint has been lodged through the Command’s emergency contacts, Complaint Response Unit or any of its verified social media channels.
In a statement made available to newsmen on Thursday by the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO of the Command DSP Maureen Chinaka while responding to media reports on the killing, the Abia State Police Command, added that an investigation team headed by the Deputy Commissioner of Police, State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), has been set up to look into the alleged incidents and examine the circumstances surrounding them.
The Police spokesperson, said the Commissioner of Police, Abia State Command, CP Danladi Isa, reiterated the Command’s unwavering commitment to its constitutional mandate of protecting the lives and property of all residents of Abia State, adding that the state will continue to enjoy relative peace with the sustainable efforts of the Command, the consistent support of the state government, and collaboration with sister security agencies as well as members of the public.
CP Isa enjoined members of the public to speak up and report incidents that threaten their security through appropriate police channels, emphasizing that the Command remains accessible at the grassroots level through its various Divisions and Area Commands.

The statement reads in part: The Abia State Police Command wishes to clarify that no such report was received at the Command Headquarters, Area Commands nor at any Divisional Police Headquarters. Likewise, no related complaint has been lodged through the Command’s emergency contacts, Complaint Response Unit or any of our verified social media channels.
“However, an investigation team headed by the Deputy Commissioner of Police, State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), has been set up to look into the alleged incidents and examine the circumstances surrounding them, with the mandate to identify and track down the perpetrators of the alleged crime . All relevant stakeholders, including the Ezes, vigilante commanders, and youth leaders from the affected communities are currently being interrogated by the police.’
