A former Secretary to the Abia State Government, Mr. Eme Okoro, has said that the significance of the Smart School for today’s generation and the generations to come cannot be easily fathomed.
Eme Okoro who stated this at Comprehensive Primary School, Umuomaiukwu, Nsulu, Isiala Ngwa North, LGA, during the day 2 of the ongoing demolition of schools and conversion to Smart School, added that he visited the school to have first hand information.
He also stated that this is borne out of the various media reports hovering around the Smart School Project, emphasizing that having seen the existence, he will now be in a better position to discuss it.
Eme Okoro commended Governor Alex Otti for such a bold step meant to revive the education sector in the State, praying God to bless him for embarking on such a laudable initiative aimed at transforming the education sector in the State.
He said, “My excitement was such that I decided that my wife and I should come and see action with respect to the generations that are about to come. Several years ago, when we went to elementary school, we never knew about smart schools. And may be if I had gone through this kind of stage, maybe I would have been a genius.
Earlier, Mrs Orieji Okwara Emele, the MD/CEO, Blue Giraffe Ltd, the company handling the Smart School Project, said the company will not compromise standard despite what naysayers are brandishing about the project.
She emphasized that they are poised to fulfill the promise of Governor Alex Otti vis-a-vis provision of qualitative education to Abians and other dividends of democracy, adding that they are fully aware of what His Excellency, Governor Alex Otti, expects from them, assuring that they will deliver Smart Schools that exist in various parts of the world.
Emele who took a swipe at those arguing that the Smart School Project is not anywhere in Abia, told them to visit Ogbo Model Primary School, Ubakala and now Comprehensive Primary School, Umuomaiukwu, Nsulu, Isiala Ngwa North, LGA, and see things for themselves.
She revealed that the team will be moving to other locations to continue with the mandate of Governor Alex Otti, advising naysayers to desist from publishing unverified stories and arm themselves with the right information about the Smart School Initiative of the Governor.
Mrs Emele who stated that even amid their fake and unverified reports, the Governor Alex Otti administration is focused and busy re-writing the bad story of Abia State.
She called on the Traditional rulers, stakeholders, youth groups in Umuomaiukwu, Nsulu, Isiala Ngwa North, LGA, to see the project as their own as well as organize themselves and guard the equipment being installed in the primary school.
“You can see his excellency also has brought us here. And there are many other places we are in need to talk too much. You can see for yourself.
“I’m a stakeholder in Abia. And I will not get myself involved in something that will not work. So you can see what we’re doing here, she concluded.
Also speaking, the Chairman, Blue Giraffe Ltd, Admiral Harvey Ngonadi Rtd, said it is not a joke that the Smart School Project is going round Abia State. He called on those still in doubt, to visit centres that work has commenced to have first hand information, adding that at Blue Giraffe Ltd, they are committed to deliver quality Smart Schools that will promote sound teaching and learning.
On her part, the School Head, Comprehensive Primary School, Umuomaiukwu, Nsulu, Mr. Nkoro Esiaba, appreciated the Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Otti for the upgrade, saying he is now digital.
He revealed that he has joined the host of other Primary School Heads in learning how to align with the Smart School initiative of the State Government, emphasizing that fitting in would not be difficult.
