A stalwart of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the party’s 2023 senatorial candidate for Enugu East, Princess Ogbu Aguocha, has thrown her weight behind the Enugu State Governor, Peter Mba’s defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC.

In a statement, she described Mbah’s decision to join the APC as a dream fulfilled for all true progressives and a turning point in the political history of Enugu State.

According to her, “Today marks a historic and joyous moment for the great people of Enugu State and all true progressives. As a founding member of the All Progressives Congress since 2014, long before our first electoral victory, this moment is truly a dream fulfilled. At last, APC has a governor in the Lion Building.”

The Nkanu East-born politician, who hails from the same local government area as Governor Mbah, commended the governor’s leadership qualities and described his defection as the beginning of a new era of unity and development for the state.

“I warmly welcome my dear brother, His Excellency, Barr. Peter Ndubisi Mbah, the executive performing governor of Enugu State, into our great party. Together, we shall work to deepen good governance and ensure the dividends of democracy reach our people,” she stated.

She called on APC members to set aside differences and work together in unity, emphasising that internal harmony would strengthen the party and consolidate its presence in Enugu.

“This is not a time for factions. Unity is power. I, therefore, urge all members, new and old, to support the Caretaker Committee led by Dr. Ben Nwoye, as constituted by the National Working Committee, under the leadership of His Excellency, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda,” she said.

Princess Aguocha urged members to come out in large numbers at the Okpara Square to give the governor a befitting welcome into the party, describing the event as symbolic of a new political dawn in the state.

“Let us come out in our vibrant colours to receive our governor and show the strength and solidarity of our progressive family,” she urged.

She reaffirming her commitment to building a united, forward-looking APC that would deliver inclusive development and better governance to the people of Enugu State.
