The Ebonyi state police command has commenced investigation into the allegation of sexual abuse against a clergyman by a 22-year-old female member of his church.

Southeastposts reports that the clergyman’s church is located at Ebonyi Voice, Mile 50 Layout, Abakaliki.

Police spokesperson in the state, Joshua Ukandu, said on Friday in Abakaliki that the cleric had been detained in their custody.

According to him, “The general overseer was arrested on Wednesday, and he has been in our custody. We have commenced an investigation, and he will be definitely arraigned upon conclusion of our findings,” the police said.

Meanwhile , in a viral video on social media, the victim said, “They said that I should be living in the church to enable me to be healed from my illness (sickle cell) through divine treatment. The spiritual healing had failed to solve my case. I am a sickle cell patient.”

The victim alleged that the cleric had assured her that seven days of sex with him was all she needed for her genotype to change from SS to AA.

Southeastposts report that the police declined requests to speak with the accused who is in their custody.
