Anambra State Police Command says it has arrested one Okwuchukwu Ezimuo, 45, in connection with the death of his 65-year-old relative, Joseph Dike, following a heated quarrel over family land in Umunocha Village, Awka-Etiti.
Preliminary investigations. revealed that the incident occurred on the evening of 22nd September 2025, when the suspect allegedly struck the victim on the chest during the dispute, causing him to collapse.
It was gathered that Dike was quickly rushed to the hospital where a doctor on duty pronounced him dead.
Meanwhile, Police operatives from the Nnobi Divisional Headquarters promptly visited the scene, documented evidence, and commenced investigations.
Speaking while confirming the development, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu FWC MNIPS PhD, condemned the resort to violence in family disputes.
According to the State Police Public Relations Officer,SP Tochukwu Ikenga , the command urged residents to embrace peaceful conflict resolution and directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Awka, for discreet investigation.
